What are people doing as alternatives because of consistently rising gas prices?
I plan to research the different things average people are doing to eliminate having to spend money on gas. I will explore all aspects of life from how people are getting to work, things they are purchasing to help with the cost, the decisions people are making about traveling and weddings, and what the first items people are eliminating from their work.
People who are looking for more or better ways to save money will benefit from this story. Other than providing information to those who are looking for new suggestions and sharing the ideas of those who have found creative plans and ideas, the blog will allow for people beyond my story to bounce ideas off each other.
This story can be documented by researching different ways of life of people in West Virginia and the problems they encounter with how or where they live. I will include sporting events and changes in travel for Marshall University sports as well as attendees. I will also include what items are more popular to consumers due to the high gas prices.
I will interview many people in the Tri-State and surrounding areas and search sites to determine how West Virginia compares to other states in the changes being made. I will do my best to cover a wide range of people as well as different styles of living in the Tri-State. I will also research the Internet to determine the increases in other products across the state.
This will most likely be one story depending on the information I find. If there seems to be too much information or too large of a scope, I will narrow my field and consider a second part.
There will be no follow-up story to this story in the near future. It is a trend that will last for a significant amount of time. However, people may add other alternatives to my blog as comments that could be turned into a story.
GREAT SITE!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if it would help with your topic or not but after reading your proposal, I wondered if bike shops in the area (such as the one on 31st Street and 8th Street) are getting more business as people turn to bikes as a way to travel locally. That could be another source that you might be able to check with.
